Vječni osmijeh prkosa: Na današnji dan strijeljan Ljubo Čupić
Na današnji dan 1942. godine strijeljan je
antifašista, revolucionar i narodni heroj Čedomir – Ljubo Čupić. Nekoliko
godina nakon smrti proglašen je narodnim herojem, a ostaće upamćen po tome što
se otvoreno smijao smrtii tako postao simbol otpora fašizmu.
Ljubo Čupić rođen je 1913. godine u Argentini, kao
jedno od šesetoro djece u radničkoj porodici Sava i Stane Čupić, rođene Burić.
Kršteno ime mu je bilo Čedomir. Majka Stana ga je dok je bio dijete iz milošte
zvala Ljubo i to ime je nosio sve do herojske pogibije pod Trebjesom, gdje je
poljubio zvijezde slobode i besmrtnosti. Tridesetih godina 20. vijeka došao je
u Nikšić, gdje je završio gimnaziju. Nakon toga studirao je na Pravnom
fakultetu u Beogradu i pripadao ljevičarskom studentskom pokretu, a 1940. godine
postao je član Komunističke partije Jugoslavije. Poslije Aprilskog rata vratio
se u Nikšić i kao član Komunističke partije učestvovao u pripremi ustanka.
Početkom jula 1941.godine, izbjegao je iz okupiranog Nikšića, a po izlasku iz
grada pristupio je čuvenoj partizanskoj četi „Đuro Đaković".
Aprila 1942. godine partizana Ljuba Čupića zarobili
su četnici na Kablenoj Glavici u okolini Nikšića. U zatvoru gdje je bio
zvjerski mučen, kako bi izdao druge partizane, mučiteljima je pokazao samo
prezir: "Ja sam komandant partizanske čete i komunista. Vi nacionalisti
ste obične sluge okupatora. Prezirem vas, kao ljudska ništavila. Poručite mojoj
rodbini da ne pokušava da traži milost za mene."
Na javnom suđenju u Nikšiću prkosnim držanjem i
britkom riječju izrugivao se vijećnicima suda. On i još nekoliko komunista
osuđeni su na smrt. U momentu kad je izlazio iz sudnice, uslikao ga je
fotograf. Tako je nastala jedna od najlegendarnijih fotografija drugog
svjetskog rata: Ljubo Čupić, osuđenik na smrt koji se smrti smije u lice. Zbog
Ljubovog osmijeha tuđin je zastao, dželati su oborili oči pred njim. I puščane
cijevi... Tek druga smjena je uspjela da ispali plotun. Jedan čovjek i jedan
osmijeh pobijedili su svoje ubice. Ljubo Čupić je dakle 1942.godine
strijeljan-ali nikada nije ubijen.
Na strelištu je vikao: "Živio drug Tito i
slavna komunistička partija", a kad su ga pogodili prvi rafali, stajao je
uspravno i pred masom naroda koja je gledala pogubljenje doviknuo: "Doći
će dani slobode!". Vezanih ruka i otete slobode toga dana, u 30. godini
života, pošao je u legendu.
10.jula 1953. godine, proglašen je za narodnog
heroja.
