Društvo prijatelja stare Podgorice nastavlja, ponovo pokreće akciju, stvara pokret: Za novi život Stare varoši , da se očuva, zaštiti, obnovi i razvija najvrednije.
Ugledni arhitekta, svojedobni dobitnik najviše Jugoslovenske nagrade za arhitekturu, dekan Arhitektonskog fakulteta u Beogradu, osnivač Arhitektonskog fakulteta u Podgorici, dobitnik saradnicima Trinaestojulske nagrade, Aeksandar Baćko Keković izradio je valjani cjeloviti projekat o obnovi, oživljavanju i održivom razvoju Stare Varoši. Podržao ga je Mihailo Banjević, predsjednik Društva prijatelja Podgorice.
Projekat je prihvatio i tadašnji moćni gradonačelnik Miomira Mugoše. Ubrzo je, međutim, raspisan tender i posao dat određenom izvođaču iz Kotora da obavi djelimične radove. Tako je vrijedan program propao, ili, nadam se, moguće je obnovljiv kada razlozi gradski oci budu upravljali. Sa MVB sam u slučajnom susretu raspravljao o Staroj Varoši. Uvjeravao me da je saglasan, da je urbanistima i arhitektama naložio da se uradi cjelovit projekat, ali...
Zamisao Aleksandra Baćka Kekovića u originalu daje dovoljan pregled kako bi se Stara Varoš bar djelimično održala u svome sačuvanome ili oblikovanom izgledu.
